Fitting a second armrest

Does anyone know whether it's possible to fit a second armrest to an L322 seat (so that you have one each side)? It would be nice to think that the metalwork is standard for OS and NS seats and has the fitting for an armrest either side, which I guess you could then achieve by removing the backrest cover. Or is this a hopeless expectation?!?!

I've often thought my car could do with one either side too (L405) so I'd be interested to see of this was doable First time FFRR owner

Isn’t there an air bag in the other side that it could interfere with?

The only RR I have ever seen with extra arm rests was at the NEC Classic car and restoration show, it was a green P38 ( pale almost olive green ) It was supposedly a one off that was previously owned by the Royal family, it had arm rests on the outside for the rear seat passengers. It was a lovely car and in great condition, there were several other novel features.

Trust my luck, I had left my phone and camera in the bloody car, so no pics Big Cry Whistle

Instead of fitting an armrest to the seat could it not be contrived to fit it to the door card?

Hi all, sorry for the delay replying but I didn't get any notifications!

I should perhaps have been more clear in my OP. I'm on my second L322 now and have always found the seats really comfortable. I also have a motorhome in which the seats have seen better days. Those are "proper" captain's chairs, with an armrest either side, and because they swivel around to face "in" to the MH, it's nice to have an armrest both sides. I believe some people have fitted RR seats and done away with the second armrest but I'd like to have both if possible, hence I was hoping to find that the second one could be procured and then bolted to the seat frame, if there was provision in the metalwork for that.

I could have the MH seats re-upholstered, but I'm looking at £800 plus for both seats so it's not a cheap solution! And they're not especially supportive anyway.

Noted the point about airbags, thanks, I'd need to make sure I bought seats without (or perhaps P38 seats). 5.0 S/C Autobiography
