L322 roof bars and cross bars ?

Hi all,
I'm thinking about roof bars with detachable crossbars in order to possibly put our Maggiolina rooftent on it.

What's out there please ?

Cheers, Ard

I don't think these are available new from the dealers any longer. I ended up spending a considerable amount of time looking for my rails and cross bars.

I ended up looking at wrecking yards (I think they like to be called "dismantlers" now).

But, they don't list that separately.

Knowing that they were the same from 2006 - 2012 helped. I started looking at the websites for these wrecking yards at any L322 and looked at the pictures of the car for the roof rack. Then I would call them and ask if was still there and how much.

In the end I found the rails and cross bars but they were missing the mounting pads. Look at item "D" in this picture.

In the end they were able to find me a set.

But, as far as I know, they are not available anywhere.

So a fellow member of my local Land Rover group was able to create a 3D image file of it so if anyone wants to 3D print them, I can get them this CAD file.

Mine were also missing the keys but a local locksmith was able to make some keys for me for $50 USD.

Good luck!

Thanks for that Larry !

I think I also saw a different set on a picture and they were a little higher and had an open space under them.

Maybe I'll make my own but we'll see. Finding a set would save me quite some time and hassle Laughing

Cheers Andy,

Not what I'm after as they bow in the crossbars would be interfering with the flat bottom of the rooftent.

The Rhino Rack is nice and strong but It'd rather not take it off all the time when not using the tent.

The roof bars could stay on (being low enough) and the crossbars could come off with the tent I'd think (and hope)....

Hi,

I prefer something like the Rhino system as well.

I'm hoping that it'll be able to come on/off in one piece so I can hoist it into the roofspace of my unit for storage after removal, lower it down onto a dolly for packing, cleaning, storage etc, then when needed pack it on the dolly, hoist it back up, pull the car in and then lower it down to fit all in one go.

I'm not intending to keep it on when.

Otherwise it's going to be a real challenge and need a few useful lads to help get it on and loaded.

I'll sleep on it and see if SWMDO gets it Rolling with laughter

Can’t quite remember which set I specifically purchased for mine (L322 2012) but I’m sure a conversation with them would answer that… I had them powder coated black to match the car… they use the car mounting points in the gutter rails and have worked fine for me for a year or so now.

Thumbs Up

 Cheers, Steven.

I use the Land Rover Passion roof rack.

Totally flat. Uses all 6 mounting bolts. Spreads the weight.

Specifically made for the L322.

Germany

I bought the Yakima Bars for my RTT, they look quite similar to the original Bars and use the original mounting points. I specifically didn't want system like the Thule bars which clamp into the door frame.

That's definitely an option Grangerover. Thumbs Up
I'll have to have a good think about what I want to end up with.
Might actually buy a 2 door classic to put the RTT on but the thing is, The FF is just soooo comfortable !!
