Trailer lights, fillament or led's

I have had a trawl through the forum but didn't find a definitive, My 2020 bio has factory deployable tow bar and with my trusty old trailer having 7 pin electrics i thought I would get into the 21st century.

Purchased 2 light units from the bay, these also have fog and reverse so need 8 core cable and new plug.
First impressions were ok with quality, then after removing inners it went down hill, the neutral wires twisted together and also the springs twisted, our came the iron and sorted. Lamps swapped for 12v and appropriate wattages only to find out lense covers would not fit due to length of flash and fog lamps.

Temp wire up and check, trailer symbol flashing and info panel saying trailer detected rear sensors disabled along with trailer dimension set up. disables rear fog lights the light check was handy being on my own.

So I thought lets try the led route, reading somewhere about resistors needing to be added I popped to a local trailer dealer and plugged in, all worked as should but no indication on dash along with not warning of trailer detection disabling reverse sensors, so that's a non starter.

More internet searching to find some 21w motorcycle lamps which are shorter in length so ordered these.

Hope this maght help someone.

Yup - it seems that LR as ever are slow to realise that trailers may be fitted with LEDs … even on a 20MY.

My 15MY is the same. Filament bulbs will register the trailer icon flashing, LED’s ( even the supposed canbus ones ) wont. Either way, I just check mine regularly when attached and they seem fine enough to trust them actually being on when driving. V8 or else ...
