Lack of Brake Assistance

I got in the SC tonight, started it, put it into D and noticed that whilst my foot was giving the normal pressure on the brake pedal it started to roll.

I pressed the pedal harder and realised that it took a lot of effort and the pedal was rock hard.

I gave it a second or two and the pedal felt normal again and the brakes were fine. I’ve noticed that when driving if you pump the pedal 4 or 5 times it gets hard again with minimal travel and requires a lot of effort to slow the car.

I know there’s a separate vacuum pump on the SC and that there’s a vacuum line from that into a T on the pipe that goes into the servo but I’ve not had chance to look where the other end of the vacuum pipe is attached to this evening.

Has anybody else suffered from something similar or know where would be a good place to start looking?

Thanks,

David, did you get this resolved? Have a similar problem which is getting alarmingly worse. Don't appear to get servo assistance upon start up, for a short while, then kicks in as normal.

I found I had a small vacuum leak. Sorting that out cured the issue.

I can’t remember where it was now though I’m afraid.

Wondering if I disturbed anything when I changed thermostat. I'll have a root around. Previous cars:
