P041C DTC

Having recently become the proud owner of a 2015 Vogue SE I am trying to resolve the issues that have probably not been fixed for many years.

Following a replacement of the oil cooler, which wasnt leaking but given the condition of the gasket it could have started to leak at anytime. When i reconnected the battery i ran a check for fault codes and discovered the following

SOS limited functionality displayed on istrument cluster and a DTC U2109 Back up battery. So i intend to order battery LR089861 for the telemetry unit, not sure if any additional programming is required.

B13C2 Windshield (hmmm Windscreen) misting sensor, unrelated to the oil cooler change but the reconnection of the battery negative came as a suprise whith a fair spark on reconnection. The sensor in the windscreen seems to be defective so i will order Lr058011 as these appear to be a common failure.

Being a novice the issue i am struggling with is P041C Exhaust Gas recirculation temperature sensor B- Circuit low. I am not sure where this sensor is located or what it is called so i can look at its measured values.

I assume it is something to do with the EGR (obviously) ideally I should have tested it before i cleaned the plenum and throttle body but i did not have a diagnostic tool then. It doesnt flag a MIL light but the exhaust does smell sweet although this could be the FBH.

Also if anyone could advise me whether the heatshields and sound proofing need to be removed to access the ac drains it would be appeciated as i have spent hours looking for them. Or is it easier to remove the centre console and carpets and clean the drain tubes from the inside?

Thank you for any help.

Its a sensor that sits in the exhaust manifold you'll need to replace, the post above has plenty of info

Thank you for your reply Ryanmt

I have read https://www.fullf the link atrr.com/forum/topic50202.html which is the post for an L322 but unfortunatley https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post505480.html#505480 for an L405 isnt working.

Not sure if it is because its a challenging job and beleive me i am not doubting you, but the post refers to P040D-00 (2F) Sensor A circuit high whereas my fault is P041C sensor B circuit low. As soon as I know i am tackling the correct sensor i will be buying the required tools to get the job done.

Thank you for the confirmation

You'll likely need the Telematics unit told the battery has been replaced see topic here

Thank for the info fifth. I’m glad I read your advised post as I thought the telemetry unit was in the rear quarter panel!

P041C Exhaust Gas recirculation temperature sensor B low means resistance is low and probably shorted, check wiring for damage/scuffing/connections etc and resistance of sensor soak threads well with WD40 etc

It is EGR cooler outlet *6

Thank you KOT, I couldnt ask for any more than that, I should be able to confirm its the sensor and replace it. Looks like it is reasonably easy to access once the plenum is removed although that may prove to be wishful thinking!

Hi KOT,

Just to close this PO41c DTC, you were right it looks like i had trapped the sensor wire under the plenum chamber, the wire was clipped in position but must have been enough slack just to catch it, i havent removed it yet to determine if it is repairable or if it needs a new sensor.

Thanks for your help

Good news, can you not unplug sensor and measure resistance of sensor with a meter ? 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Hi KOT,

Yes I could have done that, but to access the connector i needed to remove the panel that covers the plenum and i could see where the wire was caught so i have repaired the wire reconnected the plug and the DTC could be cleared.
