United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I cannot argue with Robert, he is of course absolutely right, we Brits are atrocious at other languages (sweeping generalisation!) and expect everyone else to master ours impeccably!

So, given that for those whom English is not their first language (this does not apply to them), but nobody has mention the now widespread use of 'could of' 'would of' and 'should of' which is meaningless and used by a lot of people all over the place who should know better. Drives:
2010 FFRR TdV8 Vogue - Stornoway Grey
2010 FFRR TdV8 Vogue SE - Zermatt Silver

well you purists, this might be a UK forum, but you have a lot of foreign members, most of them speak your language and 2 or 3 other languages. I guess most of you don't speak a word across the border.

Try and take part in a French discussion on a Alpine forum or a German Porche forum without making any mistakes.

Most Brits coming over to France think that speaking louder make the French understand English... Laughing and before you start raging war with the froggies, I'm Dutch Wink

But all of the posts have been critical of native English speakers not you herring eaters or the froggies.

Incidentally, my Mrs is Dutch and speaks much better English than my friend from South East London.

What really gets on my wick is the unnecessary addition of apostrophes to a pluralised acronym. Not a dig at you, specifically - it crops up all over the place and is, except as usual with possessives or plural possessives, entirely incorrect.

I tend to see references to decades such as "1960's" which bugs me.

I find the use of costumers instead of customers similarly irritating.

Reading this thread, I'm glad it's not just me who notices this stuff. It makes my teeth itch. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

For me it's the mixing up of effect and affect. Something may affect your driving but it won't effect your driving. 2013 Vogue SE SDV8

For those that struggle, how about

“ Vogue ” as in “Rouge”

Whereas

"Vogue” as in “Brogue”

Surely RR is more Brogue than Rouge! 2016 SDV8 AB

Just re-read my post of 25 January which now doesn’t make any sense (to me at least) as there seems to be an autocorrect going on from what’s typed to what gets published.

I can’t seem to be able to post the following word without the forum changing the spelling: V-O-U-G-E.

Clearly, the word itself is an abomination, but watch out, there are dark forces operating in the background to keep us on the straight and narrow! 2016 SDV8 AB

I’m guilty of all of the above, meters metres their there etc etc. the one I can never get my head around is to and too.

I’m regularly chastised in a prominent newspaper column by others who may of achieved very little in their life & I usually tell them!!

On this forum, posters are far more tolerant, for that I thank-you all . Apologies for any teeth grinding damage. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Just been b…gr..d again…another one of my regular failings… often get pulled for that one but just fail to learn… I must have other qualities… my wife is still searching for them! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits.
