Great write up thanks. I’ve got a similar problem and like you I’ve not found anyone on the net with my symptoms: Flashing LED, long ‘bong’ and none of the sensors is ticking. No specific guidance from the GAP IId tool. It just says “unknown error 000x00”. I guess like you it’s down to first principles and a bit of disassembly and checking. Any other suggestions?

Same topic. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 Autobigraphy
Just before Christmas my Parking Assist Control Module stopped working - no light on dashboard button.
Fault Code: Lost Communication with Parking Assist Control Module

Replaced it with an ebay second hand, this fixed it. Part No LR024774 (AH42-15K866-BG)
The "new" one stopped working after the rain this week - it was full of water - water ingress to Left side D pillar.

My plan is to:
1) Silicon the roof rack gulley from the windscreen to the rear bumper and any holes or gaps anywhere.
2) Dialectric grease the connectors.
3) My car has the "shower cap mod" a plastic bag on the external side. I am going to add to this by covering the modules. Any thoughts on this? .


Notes:
a) Does anyone know if Parking Assist Control Modules AH42-15K866-BG and AH42-15K866-BE (from a RR Sport) are interchangeable? The one ending "BE" are cheaper and more about.
• I have reason to believe AH42-15K866-BG works with L319 and Disco 4. Unconfirmed.
• See later post notes about JLR parts Serial Number protocol.

b) The Technical Bulletin for the "shower cap" mod number is LTB00007v2 31 May 2007.





Love to know your thoughts or advice. I have searched everywhere and there is little on this issue.

Had this issue and lost 2 brand new PAM's....


3rd time I just loosley placed the unit on the left side upside down so water couldn't drip down the wires. I suspect the water is getting in the front side somehow rather than the back as I recently had my AV system go haywire after a lot of rain. Never had any luck with used PAM's and glad I don't have to buy another new one as they have doubled in price since I last bought one. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I took the internal D pillar trim out today. Wet inside as per pics. Looks like I put the tailgate aperture "boot" seal back on badly when I took it off this summer to replace the parcel shelf spring clip which was broken and meant the parcel shelf used to squeak.

The boot seal does not look degraded so I have siliconed it back on.

Note the "shower cap" factory mod (LTB00007v2 31 May 2007). I am going to be extending this mod and will document here. Also deploying dielectric grease in as many places as poss.

Roy Hardy is directing operations ex-Land Rover Chief Technician now unconstrained by LR rules!

After a few days of rain I had a look and there was water on the top black plastic unit. I also noticed mine has the rear splash plastic fitted so now it's just a case of fitting a DIY front one. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Decode the Jaguar Part Number
This document refers to the long Jaguar part number found on pretty much anything bigger than a nut, bolt, washer, etc. This system is a throwback to Ford Ownership which continues under todays current owners, TATA.

Using 1X43-18C830-AB as an example, a CD Changer.

1X43 is the Prefix

1 is the year the part was 1st introduced for a specific models introduction
X4 is the actual range of vehicle it was fitted to
3 indicates which part of Jaguar had the design responsibility, for our needs this can be disregarded
So this prefix indicates the part was introduced in 2001 for an X-Type (X400).

18C830 is the Master Part Number

It signifies the actual family of parts it comes from
It will appear on different models eg, 15K866 is a Park Distance Control Module
It is not a unique part number, for that C2C12345 format part numbers come into play.
AA is the Suffix - information on Edition & Revision

AA would indicate the 1st production of an item, its original design
Second letter change to AB, AC, etc indicates the items design has been changed, B = 1st revision, C = 2nd revision and so on, same part with the same function
First letter change to BA, CA, etc indicates a part with the same function as AA, but slightly different in manufacture or (possibly manufacturer, confirmation req)
Both letter change to BB, BC, etc is a mix of the 2 previous points
A note of caution, some parts have more than one variant (eg. the PDC has 2 variants, a 4 channel and an 8 channel). Following the above breakdown will not decipher which you need, for that you will need to know if the part you've taken off shares the same location as another with enhanced abilities. The AC compressor is another example, being either 2 zone or 4 zone climate control. In both instances I can confirm the actual parts indicate this difference.

Prefix - 1st Character - Year

X = 1999
Y = 2000
1-9 = 2001-2009
A-R = 2010-2024 (I is not used)
Prefix - 2nd & 3rd Characters - Model

R8 = S Type, X200
W8 = XK8 & XKR, X100 - X150
W9 = XJ Series, X300 - X350 - X358 - X351 - X360 (future XJ)
X1 = F Type, X152 (was X600)
X2 = XF, X250 - X260 - X270
X4 = X Type, X400
X6 = XE, X760

H2 = Range Rover Sport L320
H4 = Range Rover L322
K5 = Range Rover Sport L494

Excellent!. If you look up that drip will:
a) be coming from the soft black padding at the bottom of the interior D-pillar trim.
b) be going from the black plastic unit to where the Parking Aid Module should be located. This is very likely the water path which Censored your 2 or 3 parking modules!..

I have not yet identified the water ingress point - still at work with silicon. I think it might be the top corner of the Tailgate Aperture (/Boot) Seal, but not yet conclusively proven.

Does anyone know if there are any holes or potential ingress points under the Roof Rack trim covers? I removed and replaced mine 4 years ago and I cant remember. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8 AB low mileage - a peach

Found a possible leak point around the upper tailgate bump stops as water runs down the gutter and over this on the LH side when the

tailgate is raised after rain so sealed the thread with some PTFE tape 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Part 2 of the Shower Cap mod. First pic is my first attempt. Second pic is the solution I ended up with.
I have added a 1kg bag of silica gel to prevent condensation.

Old Parking Aid Module is working since it was dried out but the rear buzzer sound is distorted. Replacing LR006482 - Parking Sensor Speaker 3W83-15K864-AA which sits in the right hand side of the boot. Remove two plastic pins with a 4mm hole punch.

Butyl Sealant Tape is truly excellent and easy to use. ( for Car Truck Window Door RV Windshield Headlamps Headlight Butyl Rubber Glue Reseal )

I just pushed a plastic sheet into the gap between the body and plastic grill and it seemed to stay there without any adhesive. It’s raining heavily tonight so will inspect tomorrow when it stops. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Additional - while the Park Assist Module was damp inside - it fried the reverse speaker (sits on the back of the aluminum brar on the right hand side of the boot and which emits the beeping).

New Parking Aid Rear Speaker LR006482 (3W83 15K864-AA)

These are a Ford part. £15. Ford name + part number: Ford Fiesta Mk7 Focus Mk2 Kuga Galaxy Parking Aid Speaker 4501599

These are held on by two plastic poppers which you can push out with a centrpunch (LR kindly drilled holes in the bracket for this!)
