Interesting. My car doesn’t have one. Does yours?

If the vehicles have an E-sim, it should be possible to get a service provider of your choice to provide a data contract for a much more competitive price. The problem will be getting the number of the Sim from JLR to set it up. I suspect they are not going to make it easy.

Second thoughts, this would not work, as JLR would need to keep operating the E-sim so that the remote app and emergency calling still worked.

Maybe they will lower the renewal price over time if few owners renew.

That's how it works on an 'open' device, such as an iPhone, where the owner can install whatever e-SIM he/she wants.

On 'closed' devices, you have to go through the manufacturer to install said e-SIM. The Apple watch is a good example of this.

My money is on the fact that JLR isn't going to let people do whatever they want, but that's just me.

I expect that JLR use the built-in eSIM to OTA services, and should be covered by JLR for the life of the vehicle. The SIM card slot would then be for the WiFi hotspot, I guess (as said, we don't have the SIM card slot in the L460 here locally) L460 P550e AB SWB MY24

FFS, I am so confused.
Car is 12 months old tomorrow.
Came home and did not lock it as it was being unloaded, phone pings to say did you forget to lock the car.
Touch the app and it opens saying it expires tomorrow.
Not had any e-mails or anything.
Phone dealer, get handed from pillar to post but person I need to speak to is not available, they will phone back.
App says all but data plan runs to 2026.
Chances of buying another Full Fat, four fifths of F all. letters not necessarily in the right order

Dixy , I went through that, as far as I remember they hadn’t figured out a way to charge, so it just continued… Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
