Climate controlled seats.

Hi everyone

Re 07my 4.2 sc

My RRFF drivers seat heaters just refuse to operate. I’ve replaced both Peltier units with new ( seat and backrest ) and their ecu, I replaced the broken air trunking with new and cleaned both filters. all I get is the 10 second spin up followed by nothing else. They do operate on cold, which will be handy in a few months (hopefully) and the passenger seat is fully operational, both heat and cold. The fuses check out ok. All I can think of at this moment is a wiring break in the main harness, the new units are wired & soldered correctly. The only other option I can see is to start stripping both seats and swapping over each Peltier unit and see if the problem carries over, not a task I’ll look forward to.
Has anyone else had this issue and resolved the problem?.

Thank you in advance.

Hi - get an IID tool on it to check fault code and then monitor live temp of back and cushion.

Run up the back only Peltier loose and check operation. The fan doesn't run continuously.

Unlikely to be electrical if it's running even some of the time.

Separate thread on this topic is (very) long, but useful.

Hi

Thank you for your response.

I have to apologise, I overlooked stating that there are no codes listed for the seat circuits, and the battery is barely 12 months old and giving no troubles.
Good point on monitoring the temperatures, I use JLR’s own SDD, so I’ll go search its system for that.
I have run the seat unit whilst removed from the seat cushion, and it did produce warmth in the 10 seconds it ran.
I’m also questioning if one of the Peltier units is faulty, I did purchase both units from the reputable Ukrainian company. Maybe I can check the resistance of each Peltier sensor (I checked them out on the bench at the time of fitment) while fitted and running.
I’ll go and do some more testing.

Thank you for your assistance.
