Looking like new again

Just picked up the fatty from the detailers who has had it for the last 3 days. Had a 2 stage mop and finished off with ceramic coating. What an absolutely stunning job he did. It was covered in loads of surface scratches, luckily none of them deep so they all cut out nicely. And tar, bloody loads of tar all over the car. Took him 4 hours to get all the damn stuff off.
As I'm so anal about having a shiny clean car, I thought it was worth every penny especially being black. But now I'm well happy with it.

Thanks Greg and haylands, it just had to be done. Next job, wheels refurbished and all 4 corner pillar covers to be sprayed the same colour, I think it looks much better.

I also did tar removal this weekend. On first glance there were maybe 30 spots of tar, when I sprayed the solution on the panels though it showed up all the micro tar you wouldn't see normally. My RR is now silver again! Its very satisfying to have a clean wagon, though mine only lasts around a day as I live in the countryside. Current yokes

I know what you mean fla, I'm sure it's getting worse. I always kept the tar at bay with every polish on my red one. Just glad I've not got a white one. Nothing more satisfying than having a nice clean super shiny car.

Sisters!

Good call on the clay bar, I need to get a new one as the disco ate through the last one!

Its amazing what a de-tar and polish can do for keeping future dirt at bay too, I always forget that. I took mine out in the rain yesterday down muddy country roads and she was almost as clean as when I left as the dirt could not adhere as easily. Current yokes

Next job, get the wheels refurbished. Nothing worse than having scuffed wheels, makes the rest of the car unsightly.
I was also thinking of getting gtechniq window rain repellent kit, £40 from eBay. Results and reviews say it's brilliant stuff. Must admit, I do like nice clean windows on a car, finger prints and smears always winds me up especially when the missus does it on purpose. There's always a microfibre handy in the car for such instances.

Why would your wife do this on purpose? Have you considered divorce as that's a divorceable offence in my opinion!!

I think I bought that GTech stuff but never put it on, must try that as my front screen is bad. I also have one badly scuffed wheel but noticed in the boot a perfect spare so I must do a swap. I had wheels on the Subaru refurbished a few years ago and on the first week of using it the powder coat started to chip. I was not impressed. Current yokes

My son put some rain repellant on his car and driving up the M6 in a storm the rain just ran off (he did use the wipers occasionally).

Although I'm not a big fan of dark coloured Range Rovers yours does look really smart. Thumbs Up Geoff

Fla she does it on purpose to wind me up as she knows I hate it. Although not married there also other concerns for leaving her Laughing
Soon as she gets in the fatty, she turns her side of the heating up, puts on the heated seat, turns the radio down and demands I put my seatbelt on to stop the beeping, which of course I do on purpose now as payback. I had the wheels done on the red one a few months back and they did a cracking job, they still look as good as new.

Thanks supershuttle, I didn't want black as I thought it was a far too common colour on range rovers but it was the only decent one I seen and had the extras I wanted. But got to admit it's grown on me, ever more so since I've had the paintwork detailed.

I'll give that gtechniq a try then me thinks. I've used rainX before and thought was brilliant but heard there's better ones out there now. I used to use a very fine wire wool with soapy water that used to get rid of the imperfections on glass many years ago but dare not try it on the fatty in case of scratching it as I'm not sure what coatings are applied to it when made.

You will be sainted!! My other half would never smear the paint work with moisturised hands but does complain about my rock music, which I ignore as I am usually going to the horse shop for her, seems you cant fit 6 bales of haylage in a 3 series BMW. My car my tunes..

I like the Gtech stuff though some of it is pricey. My favourite product by them and this may be extra handy with the nice black colour you have is the plastic ceramic coating. It makes all the plastics on the car black again and like new and lasts about 6 months. The bottle is the size of an eye drops bottle and costs about €40 but it makes a car look really fresh. Current yokes

Had the gearbox oil flushed and filled with new oil yesterday, along with the front and rear diffs and transfer case. Gear changes are far more smoother and a very very faint droning noise I had has now gone. Well worth the money.
