I got in my car this morning and noticed what a lovely warm April day it was. I turned my air conditioning down but found it wasn’t blowing out cold air even when put on low. The most likely component failure is the condensor, but you can try a local Indy, or even national chains like Halfrauds or Kwik-Fit, etc for a re-gas and they should check as part of the process if their equipment is able to draw a vacuum. If it does, you’re in luck and a simple re-gas (£80ish) will suffice. If you have a very small leak in the sydtem, not detected by the vacuum draw, you will know in a few months if air-con stops working again….in which case I’d suggest a local air-con specialist, who will check valves as well as other components in the system.
There will be a label somewhere near the slam panel under your bonnet that denotes the type of refrigerant you have, worth noting, as not all garages stock the newer environmentally “friendly” gas.
