5 years old! That's not on at all, I'd have rejected them.
General consensus is 10 years is as old as you should run, so at 5 years old they're already half way through their expected life span.
Appreciate what you';re saying about your mileage, though. So was good of you to accept them!
My Dad had cracking between the treads on 3 year old tyres on his (owned from new) BMW X3, only 10K miles on factory fitted tyres, can't remember the brand, possibly Bridgestone.
