Central locking refusing to open - sorted

Hello everybody,

I have an issue with the central locking on my vehicle. It refuses to respond to the key fob buttons, and when I open the car with the key, only the driver door opens. The rest stay locked and cannot be opened from the outside or the inside. This also means the petrol cap flap cannot be opened resulting in me not gaining access to the actual petrol cap. Censored

Is there a bypass to get the flap open, or am I going to have to force the flap open in order to get some petrol in!? Big Cry

If you press the unlock button on the drivers door twice it should unlock everything.

If you get stuck, there's a manual release hidden behind the RHS internal boot trim that allows you to pop the flap. It's described under 'load carrying' in the handbook I have for my 2012 but I'm sure it's the same on the earlier model years. It's on page 67 of the downloadable handbook in the site Wiki. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
Previous V8s: BMW 645Ci, P38 4.6, P38 4.0, Merc CL500

Thank you one and all for the super quick replies.

The back upper hatch will also not open. And the button on the lower dash that would normally open it also fails to work. I’ve not made this easy have I. Rolling with laughter

And before anyone mentions clambering over the back seats to gain access to the boot, my moniker ‘bigfatbloke’ is well earned!! Whistle

Daft question, you have tried pressing unlock on the fob twice? Though that shouldn’t stop interior buttons working…. What about valet mode? Though again, think tailgate should still open….

Has it done this recently? What about disconnecting battery for a bit?

I had to force it open.

Not ideal, but I’d tried everything else I could think of.

Unfortunately I’m not much of a mechanic. Toolbox only contains a big screwdriver, pliers and a hammer!!! Rolling with laughter

You can perform wonders with a hammer and crowbar as precision tools in the tool box Smile
