Plug and Play?

I don't think so, I gave up after an hour.
Looks like an engine out job

Just joking but it's the first time I've ever had a serious look under the bonnet
Flip, you can't even get a hand in there

Yes, to get access you’ll need to disconnect a few bits & pull (literally) the airboxes out both sides on the V8, but its mostly just big lumps of plastic, which are easy enough to get back together.
Difficulty is only about 2/5, an hour tops from start to finish.

Time to get brave & have a go, you’ll be so chuffed with yourself afterwards! “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Hi Gremlin
some comments say it's easier if you separate the top of the airbox from the bottom, maybe this makes a bit more wiggle room?

Yes, remove all the screws & disconnect the electrical plugs, remove top of air boxes and filters, then the lower part of the boxes simply pulls out of the wing and upwards, then you have full and easy access to the two large rubber bungs. Look inside and you will see there is a big locking ring to rotate about 30 degrees to lock/unlock, there’s a picture on here somewhere, perhaps Stan can find it?
Be very careful to align the square part of the new bulb with the multitude of little finger springs, so you don’t bend any, or you will curse. A good light helps, it’s surprisingly dark in there.

Good luck, and report back! Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Hi Gremlin
mission accomplished, thanks for your help. Took me longer than an hour but was going nice and steady as I don't like forcing things
At least I know how to change the air filters now
It's a bit scary how much stuff is packed under the bonnet of the SDV8, don't think I would like to have to do a big job

Thumbs Up

Well done! Bow down

I hope you’re feeling suitably smug & self-accomplished, I bet it won’t get dark soon enough tonight!

Chefkenmore
Tried mine out last night for the first time and they are amazing, they're what the car should have had from new
Don't think you'll be disappointed

Went out for a run tonight to “try” the new bulbs, fantastic improvement but mine were flickering! Went out, had to re switch on to bring them back on! Wonder if the connectors haven’t been pushed home correctly or faulty bulbs??

@chefkenmore:
Your car is 2014, Kev’s is 2016, so there may be differences in what is enabled in config.

This may help:

Worth getting the Vgate, cheap as chips and a great bit of kit, with the App on your phone for diagnostics, and very good for monitoring DPF regens for a later diesel if you upgrade at some point. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Some bulbs are fitted with a switch for different settings to overcome flickering.

Thanks Gremlin, can I change any settings with my Gap?
The back of my old bulb says D3S? LEDs are D1S would that mean Ive got the wrong bulbs??

Just bought some new bulbs from amazon at £80! Thought the ones I have could be faulty ! They are also D1S??

Hope I can get them to work as the improvement is great!
