2010 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black

What would be the cause of this type of damage!?

Hey guys, I’ve attached a photo of the damage to the rocker cover so you can jump straight to that and tell me if you’ve seen a melted one before. I’ll try and make the story really brief. Range ran perfectly a year ago, and then one night driving back, lost all power, was Smokey and ran like dog poop.

Garage had it, found damaged rocker cover, changed it, still ran

Found that the turbo actuator had seized, tried and tried to free it off and couldn’t, so new turbo.
Got them to replace the turbo, and the rocker cover needed doing again because it failed in the same spot.

They replaced the turbo, but car still runs like

, they suspected injector problem because of the damage to the rocker cover in the same spot. Changed injector. Same issue. Car ran like poop and failed another rocker cover.

Anyway, here is a picture of the rocker cover damage. The car has been off the road for a year now because nobody can fix it, it seems. Two garages had a go, they said they suspect valve damage.

A year on I’ve given it to someone else to inspect, he’s had the rocker cover off etc to check for valve damage and he said valves all seem good.

What could be possible causes of this type of damage to the rocker cover?

Difficult to see where it is in relation to the rest of the engine components but looks like heat damage to me. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Hey guys, so it was the second rocker cover that had been melted after fitting a new one. Car had been in multiple garages with nobody about to diagnose what the issue was. Some said valve issue letting hot air pass.

anyway it seems someone has finally solved it and I’m surprised no other garage checked. But the timing chain had stretched causing the timing to be out which was causing all the problems.
