Hi all, I'm new to this forum so please excuse me if about this were discussed else where.
O own a Range Rover L405 4.4 , year 2015 and i facing next big problem ,
The car started with next problem : revs were playing but not all the time , ( only sometimes ) . After that when i was driving the engine showing fault and it stoped working , (every time i have to pull over and start it again) . When we read the fault codes showing FUEL RAIL PRESURE SENSOR.
We've changed almost all FUEL SISTEM , started with both rail sensors from Land rover dealer and NO ANY CHSNGES, after we changed new Hight Pressure Fuel Pump (New from Bosh) ,
then we discovered small Micro Pieces of metal in the Fuel tank and we cleaned it all and changed the Fuel pump from the tank.
Finally i thought that thats it , problems are sorted but...
I driven it about 2 days and it started again revs to play ( but not all the time) and also it started more often to cut off engine on the Motorway or whenever i'm driving.
The engine usually is working as its should and when i waiting at a trafic light or in a trafic the revs start playing and the angine just stop working .

Please if someone know why this is happening or has the same problem please give me an advise because we don't know why it does that.

What engine fault codes are stored when it stops? If none then the crankshaft position sensor may be faulty, easily confirmed by logging engine RPM whilst idling with a diagnostic tool which will show momentary 0 or very low rpm.

Hi , the fault shown is
P0087-16 Fuel Rail/system Pressure - Too Low, (only this fault no anything else on the engine )

Please if you know can you give me an advice?

Have a look at a thread in 2023 started by bikereacer . It's a problem that I had too, with a simple fix. 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.
1960 Series 2 88 inch diesel.
1955 Series 1 86 inch petrol.

Have you changed the fuel filter…if you have had debris in the tank/pump the filter could be blocked leading to fuel starvation and limited fuel rail pressure. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

200 TDi discovery bobtail gone
RR classic v8 bobtail gone
300 tdi Discovery 3 dr gone

yes i did changed it , two times after pumps replacement , and ill change it again just to be sure but before changing it it done the same thing and after that also .

In my particular case, my problem was solved by the replacement of one simple wire. The problem is that LR decided to use two pieces of wire and join them with a connector, the connector fails. There is a replacement one piece of wire available. There is a LR sheet available. 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.

This may explain the problem.. LTB01083. 13th July 2017.
Engine hesitation/stall at low vehicle speed.
A customer may express a concern that at low vehicle speed the engine hesitates of stumbles. In some circumstances as a result of the low vehicle speed the customer may report that the hesitation or stumble has resulted in the engine stalling. The engine will restart by cycling the ignition.
If the engine has stalled the customer may also express a concern that :
A) The touchscreen has changed and is now displaying the 4x4 – Terrain response/4x4 information.
B) “D” is flashing on the Transmission Control Switch, and instrument cluster.
C) The charge warning indicator is illuminated.
The customer may also report that, Restricted power mode sometimes appears on start-up.
A Technician may find diagnostic trouble code P088-17,
(Fuel rail/system pressure – too high – circuit voltage above threshold) stored in the Powertrain Control Module.
Cause... Intermittent electrical connection of the fuel pressure sensor wiring harness. Check LTB01083.

Wiring loom portion kit LR085463. (Difficult to find)
Fuel pressure sensor link harness kit LR108438. (Difficult to find)
Some suggest dis-assembling the upper connector and douse it with switch cleaner, then re-assemble. 2013 SDV8 4.4 SE Luxor.

It happened again and now getting another issue

Replace water in fuel sensor assembly with sensor Fault stored and will not clear will need to replace first and recheck.
