| RRPhil Member Since: 22 Aug 2011 Location: Blackburn, Lancashire Posts: 1044    | Texamatic 7045E was a Dexron III fluid, for which the GM licences expired in 2006, so that’s amazing if it is still available. GM moved users on to Dexron VI, but there is a potential issue in that its viscosity (new) is lower than that of Dexron III. Not necessarily a good thing if your valve blocks are worn, which is a particularly common issue with the 5L40-E! The justification is that the better shear stability of Dexron VI means the viscosity remains at its design specification for longer i.e. after a period of use it will be higher than ‘worn out’ Dexron III. I suspect that the BMW fluid that you mentioned is Dexron VI.

It specifically mentions the GM5L40E and I have to say that the gearbox behaves perfectly. I needed to do another oil change after 1000km and used it again. | ||
