Snow Chains?

I'm planning a skiing trip with friends where we'll be driving to the French Alps in January.

1. Is it compulsory to have snow chains by Frog Law?

2. Does anyone other than Land Rover make them for 19 and 20 inch wheels?

3. How expensive are they?

Cheers! Discovery 4 HSE

Dont know about the law but.

We take them each year, last year was the first time we put them on and would not have got in to Zures without them.

Baught konig ones on the interweb, cost about £150, practice fitting at home first. letters not necessarily in the right order

Renting is not much cheeper than Flebay but demand is bound to go up soon, but definitely practise before you need them and remember that counter intuitively they go on the rear wheels.
As for French law I'm not sure but allot of people just seem to use mud and snow tyres. 2008 MY Supercharged
