Start and die with 2 new MAFs?

Hey guys, let me know if anyone has dealt with this? I've got an 07' L322 4.4L and have been getting a lean condition fault. It runs fine but you can smell that it is indeed lean. I decided to replace the MAF. I've had this truck for over a decade and it's got 244k miles on it so I'm sure I've replaced the MAF previously but can remember 100%. Back in the day I would always get the cheapest Amazon parts I could find but have learned the errors of my ways over the years. That said I ordered a $175 Delphi unit from FCP Euro but when I put it in, the vehicle would start and immediately die as if you had the intake boot off of the throttle body. I ended up returning it as I was thinking that it (while unlikely) was a defective part. I accidentally choose refund instead of exchange so I needed to order another one. I had to order a ton of stuff from Atlantic British so I added one to my order. On both sites, I put in my specific vehicle info and it she the appropriate part which was the Delphi unit again. I received the MAF today, installed it, and it did the exact same thing where it starts and dies.

I saw someone mention that you would need to clear the engine adaptations. I just put it back together after replacing the throttle body and plenum gaskets and cleaned the **** out of the throttle body and intake so I actually cleared the engine adaptations last night before starting it (with the existing MAF and haven't driven it.

The MAF that's been in it is a Denso unit but didn't think it should make a difference. I'm thinking I should try to find another Denso instead of the Delphi as I can't think of anything else.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi,
I had a very similar issue with my 4.2 and it turned out to be a vacuum leak. Only after several very intensive smoke tests over six weeks was the leak finally found. Range Rover 4.2 SC

Unfortunately, I've done smoke tests and found nothing hence replacing the MAF. Regardless of whether of not there is a small vacuum leak, it still doesn't make sense that it wouldn't run at all with the 2 new sensors but starts just fine with the original one.
