Strange suspension fault

Very soon after I drive off I constantly get the message that only normal ride height is available. It happens I don't get the message but if drive in a round about or over a speed bump it usually comes on. The ACC also becomes unavailable when this happens.

The error codes says the system is filling slowly and that the compressor gets warm, the assumption is that the compressor needs replacing.

However, if I'm parked and run the suspension up and down a couple of times I can raise and lower it fully about 3-4 times until I get the message that operation will resume when compressor has cooled down but I don't get any other error message. After a while the suspension works again.

Yesterday I hooked up my 3000 kg trailer with a weight on the deployable tow hitch of 300 kg (a bit high, I know). I was worried this would be to much for the suspension but during the 4 hour drive with a couple of starts and stops I didn't have a single error message come up and the car was perfectly level all the time. I also used the ACC without any issues. As soon as I drove off after perking the trailer the "normal ride height" error message came back, I might have driven about one or two miles when it lit up.

The compressor might still need replacing but there is definitely something else going on here. Anyone had any similar experiences?
