Battery Backed Sounder not working

Onto my next repair... I have a fault code showing a faulty battery backed sounder. I did a similar repair on my 2005 X-Type which was a case of replacing the internal battery within the sounder as over the years they begin to fail leading to the alarm going off intermittently (quite annoying).

Is the sounder located in one of the front wheel arches like it was on my X-Type?

Also is it possible to replace the internal battery or should I buy a new sounder assembly?

I have the same fault that I am working through. The alarm will chirp whilst the car is locked.

I'll post here again once I get to the bottom of it. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography Overfinch in Bentley Silk White pearlescent, 22" Overfinch wheels with 285/35x22 tyres

I went ahead a purchased a new siren assembly (LR067841) to swap out my original with. They can be purchased second hand on eBay but almost all of them will be 10+ years old with internal batteries well past their best before date.

I will attempt to take apart my original sounder to see if the battery is replaceable like it was on my X-Type as that would be a cheaper option and if I keep the car long enough what I would do next time. Typically the batteries are good for 6 years and begin to degrade after that so it's just luck of the draw. 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC

Ill be interested to how you get on. My chirping has stopped. Dunno what I did but I was working through fault codes and replaced a camshaft VVT and reconfig'd the steering column adjustment and then went for an italian tune up. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography Overfinch in Bentley Silk White pearlescent, 22" Overfinch wheels with 285/35x22 tyres

Well the chirping is back with a full blown alarm at 1.30am.

Even disconnecting the battery the alarm would tick.

I have reconnected the battery and pulled fuse F36, that feeds the battery backup sounder. Locked the car, so far so good.

I have other matters to deal with now and will return to this later. 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography Overfinch in Bentley Silk White pearlescent, 22" Overfinch wheels with 285/35x22 tyres
