Hunting for gears

Recently bought a 2011 4.4 TDV8, it’s done 130,000 miles, drives really well but sometimes when feathering the throttle around junctions or roundabouts or pulling away from lights around 20mph the revs will fluctuate around 1100 / 1300 revs up and down as if it’s not sure what gear to be in……it also happens sometimes when doing motorway speeds and in cruise control.

It doesn’t happen under heavy acceleration or braking. Gear changes are smooth and almost unnoticeable.

I’ve got no warning lights and I’ve had the auto box oil and filter changed today at a local Land Rover specialist, along with the transfer case oil and diff oils. This has made a noticeable difference when pulling away from junctions as there did seem to be a delay from pressing the accelerator and the car pulling away.

The only fault I’m getting that could be relevant when I’ve plugged it in to the GAP tool is below;

“U0405-68 (6Cool Invalid data received from speed control module - Algorithm based failure - event information”

Appreciate any help if someone has had a similar issue. 2011 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey

Thanks. I don’t get any shudder. I’ve searched the other posts regarding this but not really got anywhere. As stated I’ve also just had the gearbox oil and filter done at a specialist with the correct ZF oil. 2011 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey

I had this recently but only in higher gears on light throttle.
I'm fairly confident that mine was an issue with torque converter lock up.
It did feel like an engine issue causing a lack of power but had no fault codes present for the engine.
Mine has done 123k and the gearbox oil was dirty.
The previous owner did say he had changed the oil but there was no receipt.
I had also dropped the oil from the pan at 115k and changed around 3.8 litres.
Once I had changed the oil three times the oil was clean so I changed the pan filter as well.
It was better but still had a slight judder.
I then dropped the oil once more and added a tube of Lubeguard which did the trick.
I wasn't keen to use the Lubeguard, unless needed, but it did work in my case.
Will now have to see how long it lasts for, ultimately I may need to investigate this further.
Hope this helps. 2012 TDV8 4.4 Westminster Santorini black

Just to add I had the same fault code as well which I didn't pay much attention to as it was a U code.
I think this is likely to have been caused by the gearbox not performing as requested. 2012 TDV8 4.4 Westminster Santorini black

my 2011 tdv8 has done this ever since I bought it 8 years ago. never had any problems. I spoke to my indie LR specialist and he said it's not an issue, they do this. it's just the gearbox getting traction at the right moment. mine's had all the oils changed and tested, been working fine.

Still not got to the bottom of this yet……hoping to get it booked in to see if it needs the firmware update I’ve heard some people have had success with curing the issue.

Another thing happened yesterday that could be related. I put my foot down after exiting the motorway onto a dual carriageway, probably going around 25/30 mph, it pulled really well as it always does, no hesitation, and smooth, but when the revs got over 3000 rpm it all of a sudden made a sort of clunk noise. Just the one clunk and it was felt through the car. It then carried on fine, no loss of power, no error warnings etc…… 2011 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey
