United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Galway Green
My L322 Westminster in the wrong green

I wanted a green one. Ideally sand interior, but didn’t want clear glass. Prefer privacy. Settled for Aintree with Ivory interior. I think it’s been through a couple of members on here. I didn’t want a garage queen, and this isn’t, plenty to fettle and I’m sure it will always need work. Brake sensor came on on the way home, and for about 5 seconds so did the suspension warning…
I have read quite a few threads on here and dithered over taking the plunge for at least 3 years. One of my favourite things is to read the for sale thread and see the amount of work that well cared for examples have had over their ownership. I feel like I was under no illusions therefore about the maintenance schedule. And you will see that I ask quite stupid questions, my mechanical capability extends to screen wash, I am trying to teach myself. As a result of this purchase and info on this forum I have recently become acquainted with an oil vacuum pump, Smith and Allan oils, EBC Truck and SUV green pads, I’ve also bought all the filters for it.

My aircon is knackered, blows warm, had it re-gassed, it’s leaking. Research suggests it might be the condenser, have bought a UV kit to test, and have seen that to replace requires a lot of bolts to be undone, but not impossible for the amateur.

The other day I got the dreaded suspension message and the car dropped to it’s bump stops. Air bag split on one side. I have just spent £1,236 on two new OEM struts, suspensions fittings, top gasket and ABS clips. Don’t mind doing that for peace of mind.

I have removed all the locking wheel nuts and bought all new wheel nuts, some have swollen. I need a rear tyre. The rear tailgate has rust in the usual places, and needs sorting, one for the future. I want to do the diff and transfer box oils.

I’ll then get under the chassis and look at cleaning and underseal, bilt hamber, lanolin etc..

Need to research Gap IID tools next, to re-calibrate the suspension and re-set service interval etc..

Want to upgrade the head unit for carplay. Will work my way through other mods and recommended improvements/maintenance.

I do like a printed workshop manual.

I will be sending it into Glenrands who I think come highly recommended for a post purchase inspection to pick out anything I’ve missed. I will also work out what service items need doing when or what preventative maintenance is worth doing.

I really enjoy driving it, I like analogue cars, and this is definitely one.

Defo a labour of love. Right up until the point where I get bored and get someone else to do it. Can't see myself parting company with it though. 2012 Westminster Aintree/Ivory 4.4TDV8

I have now replaced both front air struts with OEM. One job ticked off. Took me ages to get the bottom strut bolts off one side. Made me smile when I read somewhere on here that it takes roughly 30 minutes! Replaced the bolts, top gaskets and abs clips etc… need a gap tool to calibrate I think. Had the car on the ramp and my mechanic friend had a very quick squiz under it. Have some surface rust round the jacking points, and generally round the subframes etc… but nothing too bad so will be applying rust inhibitor and sealing. I do however have rusty brake lines. I’m of the mindset to replace components with whatever will provide the most longevity, what are the best options for replacing brake pipes? Many thanks. 2012 Westminster Aintree/Ivory 4.4TDV8
