fuel filter rubber hose

hi guys
just doing service and found this after removing fuel filter( see pics) please tell me this normal (i don’t think it is can’t see where it attaches to Confused

Yes it just dangles down so you can drain water off from the filter should it get any in it.

Yes, as already said, this is a little-documented item that keeps us guessing, the hose on mine was very short only about 6”. Getting a container into that tiny space must be tricky to say the least!

Replacing the diesel filter is poorly-documented on YouTube and the internet generally, and some guys on there get stuff in the wrong sequence, and make life hard. Take a pic before you start, & remove top hoses first, there is a certain order to follow to allow best access to the next hose, and a pair of fuel hose pliers definitely makes it much faster. Next comes the latch on the band around the filter, there’s enough cable to lift the whole assembly up and easily remove the electrical plug next, before twisting and pulling off the drain cup & tube last. Reassemble in the exact reverse order, taking care to line up the “T” mark on the new filter with the pointy arrow thing on the clamp band, (in the same way as it was on the old one), -some vids on YT don’t seem to do that, and make it seem more difficult. Important to purge the new filter by cycling the ignition several times without starting the engine, otherwise an easy DIY thing. Thumbs Up V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!
