Pesky dash centre vents

For those of you who have had the dash off and removed the centre vents, how on earth do you get the vents back in ? Seems like a dark art.

My vent tubes are all in the correct place and firmly fixed, I just can’t get the vent outlets into the vent tubes that go into the manifold.

If you’ve never done this you’ll be wondering what it’s all about. If you have, you’ll feel my pain !

After a couple of hours trying to get a square peg into a round hole I came up with a quick and easy solution.

You trim approx 2mm off the rearmost edge of the tubes inside the dash. That’s the lip facing the back of the car. This allows the vent tube to slide into the dash tube.

I’ve used some neoprene foam strip around the vent tubes to replace the horrible crumbly existing foam.
