Panel gaps.

I just changed a very rusty and seized rear wiper arm on my L322, while refitting the factory rear spoiler I noticed that the gaps on either side were way off, and there’s nothing I can do about it due to the holes/fittings that hold it in place. It’s always been like this but I have never noticed (looked at a few pictures of it from the past).

I would describe this as American-esque fitment, my question is is this normal?! Are FFRR’s known for terrible panel gaps?

I know there are issues with the rear L405 boot lids lining up but this a little ridiculous for a part that should not be hard to get centred…

I thought exactly the same when I did mine a couple of weeks back, it was quite a way out, maybe not quite as much as yours but still noticeable 2011 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey

I see yours is a 2011 car, you would have thought that it would have been noticed and fixed as part of the facelift but clearly not!

I have gone to the trouble of looking at cars on AutoTrader, everyone has a tighter gap on the left hand side to varying degrees…

If there’s not enough adjustment on the spoiler itself after loosening the three hex head bolts, it is possible to adjust the tailgate itself after loosening the hinge mounting bolts, but be cautious of introducing leaks as this can be an ingress point - can be mitigated with some suitable silicone sealer under the hinge before tightening back down. Jonathan

Thanks. I’d rather have uneven gaps over a leak so will leave as is! Seems like almost all L322’s have this issue to some degree. As mentioned it’s odd it wasn’t fixed by JLR over some point of the L322’s life, perhaps they didn’t fancy the cost of retooling.

And ultimately I never noticed until yesterday! It being black also helps hide the issue… 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.
