Could it be that the (let's say) leaking airbag is depleting the reservoir. The compressor has to kick in more frequently than usual to top up. Part of the normal cycle of the compressor is to vent when it reaches pressure.

I recently had the same symptoms when one of my front air bags was holed. Replaced the air bag / strut, then all was back to normal. Seemed confusing at the time as the compressor is quite new and working well. |

Front airbags are less than 2 years old… and it a good thought but the key isn’t even in the ignition at that point so the compressor is off and dead silent… Current stable:
