Black soot under bonnet and from exhaust

So my 3.6 TDV8 has developed an issue where it is blowing a bit of grey/black smoke from the exhaust when giving some throttle standing still.

After opening the bonnet there are traces of black soot on seemingly random places. Mostly on top of the fan housing but also on some spots of the hoses. None of the hoses seem to have leaks.

In the bottom left corner on top of the radiator there seems to be the highest concentration of black soot.

Normally I’d suspect a leaking injector but this doesn’t seem the area for that issue.

Curious if anyone has suggestions to what might be the cause of this

Split intercooler hose would be my guess.

Take them off and have a look on the underside of them and you'll likely see a split in the rubber. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather
