No Aux battery

Hi all, got a 2017 L405 with 3.0 TDV6. I cannot find the aux battery.

I looked on the right hand side of the boot and its not there like it used to be in L494.

I changed the main battery.

I am going after this as my start stop is not working, and i know it needs to meet certain conditions and i changed the main battery as it was knackered but cant find the aux.

I think some L494 did have capacitors instead but not sure if its same on these too? If so where is it located?

where the aux battery 'should' be is where the capacitor is located...

pic above shows where the signal wire can be detached so you get rid of the stop/start. ... - .- -.

Have you told the car via diags box it has a new battery, stop start may not work until you do. They do sometimes reset after a while but better to reset with diags box.

@RR4ED:

Relax, I have the same model and year as you, there is no aux battery OR capacitor, only the main battery under the spare wheel.

I have used my iiD tool to change the default behaviour to turn the S/S feature OFF by default.

Why?

Because if used for mainly short urban trips, most engine wear occurs during cranking the engine, plus extra wear & tear on the starter gear and battery. This could cost you dear compared to a very small saving on fuel. I also found it frankly annoying when the engine would frequently cut out at a junction just when I wanted to nip out into a gap in traffic.

So, I think off by default, and on when you choose, is the way to go! Thumbs Up

EDIT: AI says the current cost to replace a starter motor is upwards of £600. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I found the CCF entry to keep it turned off as it's right royal pain! Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Important to say editing the CCF doesn’t DISABLE Start-Stop (on MY17) rather it changes the default behaviour, so the centre console switch is lit up, (indicating S/S OFF) when you turn on the ignition.
If you get stuck in traffic for example, one flick of the switch can turn it ON (light off) as needed, -simples! Very Happy

Indeed, but it has the same effect as disabling it. I used to have to remember to switch it off every time I start the car. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Thank you guys, I shall leave it alone.

I am not a fan of start stop I just wanted to make sure if there is a problem with a battery or capacitor and it may be affecting other systems and was going after the symptom of the fault i.e start stop doesn’t work after a battery replacement.

I did code the new battery to the car.
