Shift solenoid a fault

Now then. I've a 2003 4.4 V8 petrol Vogue . I've had it for near a year and now , after about 20mins of driving and she's warm..... I get the dreaded gearbox limited operation fault . Stuck in 4th limp mode and shift solenoid open circuit fault. If I park up and leave it go back to cold it's fine. My question being.... Is this a solenoid fault or damaged loom. I've a full service kit with filter to do but debating whether to just change solenoids and fit new seals whilst I'm in there. I only bought it asca stop gap but absolutely love it. I'm looking for best options and where I can get solenoids and seal kit for valve body

Prices for new Bosch solenoids for the 5HP24 are just crazy. Both the EDS and shift solenoids are generally very reliable so it might be better to concentrate on replacing just the faulty one if, indeed, it is a solenoid fault. What is the exact fault code that you’re getting?

The shift solenoids don’t have a seal. They’re just a good sliding fit in the valve block.

Thanks for that. I'll go for a run and see what it is again. . There's no code now this morning. 🤦‍♂️
