Service intervals?

My P460e is only 8 months old and at 5000 miles. Dash is saying service is due within 20 days. How can that be right? What are the service intervals on these? Thanks!

Mine is 12mths or 11,500 miles. From memory, there were some differences in model years. What MY is your car?

Could it be coming up to 12 months since its pdi? 2024 P550e Autobiography

My P550e is shockingly 20,000 mile / 2 year intervals INCLUDING the first service.

I’m astonished that the first oil is gonna stay in the car for 2 years. 2025 P550e AB

Do not let that happen, you really do not want to wait that long to get an oil change. These ridiculous service intervals that they state are, in my opinion, pure fiction and are some box ticking exercise to say they have met some emissions target or such like. Oil changes are cheap, engine changes are not! Thumbs Up _______________________________________________

The question is are we living in the past? I read (and dealer stated) that tolerances are tighter, materials more advanced, and oils and lubricants far more advanced that a 3,000 mile oil change just isn’t necessary anymore. Ditto the break-in period. JLR have done plenty of tests and stand behind this with their warranty (5 years in Switzerland).

Of course we could always say better safe than sorry and get it done regardless, but they certainly wouldn’t be doing it under my servicing package. 2025 P550e AB

I’m with ReggieMac on this subject, (which has been done to death, if one bothers to read up on the subject of JLR products and service intervals).
It may not be the first owner to suffer, but subsequent owners will be thankful for a more diligent, and some might say, less selfish approach to interim servicing.

I for one would not wish to hand the next owner a lemon in the making, by adhering to a ridiculous extended service regime, which is almost always never attainable.

The manufacturer is only interested in just squeaking past the warranty period, and given that most first owners will not take extended warranties, can suffer the cost of the relatively few early engine failures. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Maybe JLR installed the Diesel (fuel dilution of oil) algorithm in the Petrol models Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter anything to rip more of their customers off with more frequent servicing costs.
Petrols should not be needing a service at 5k / 8 months

ffrman you really need to visit the dealer and demand why this is happening!! or do they have a clause stating "depending on driving style"? 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Mine is 6 months old with 3200 miles and it flashes "service due in 3 days" in the center console on startup.

After the message clears, I can't find the message anywhere else in the system - no messages in "vehicle health"

When I look on the phone app under status it says service due in 7,494 miles.

Get the dealer to investigate, they will be able to collect message/DTC histories and hopefully an explanation/cure. Of course you can ignore it, but if something happens JLR can prove you ignored it if it came to a warranty job. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

2024 550e

Have booked it in to find out what's going on. Under warranty

3200 miles and 6 months and the car says service required now in the "Service information" page on the dash. Also says "Full Service Required now" in the instrument cluster on startup

Meanwhile, the iphone app says service require in 7300 miles, which seems reasonable. Nothing about it being required "now"

Mine has just popped up this week too. Service was due yesterday.

5000 miles P550e, lives a pampered life in a heated garage.

I collected the car exactly 12 months ago today and the wifi data plan expires today too.

Just had a 2023 911 serviced recently and it will go 24 months until the next service.

Incidentally how much are we paying for a first service and does anyone have recommendations in the south now some of the detailers have shut down?

With my service being every 12 months/11.5k miles, I bought a 5-year Service Plan for £2514.83 payable over 58 months @ £42.59.

From previous experience, when compared against paying annually, it's about par for the first couple of years, then as prices creep up, you see a savings in years 3/4/5. 2024 P550e Autobiography

In my experience I can only recommend you stay away from the Hendy JLR dealers.
The one I use in Eastleigh is a shambles so much so that I’m looking to move to another brand next change. Current fleet:

2023 L460 PHEV 440 SE

2019 Alpine A110 (French rubbish now gone)
