I would get a service, new cars seem to be 2 yearly service but mine are serviced annually regardless of the actual mileage.

My other car is an Aston, which is a bit of a garage queen, only covered 1000 miles since it's last service in 2022, it's going in for an MOT to a specialist with a sympathetic service, in other words a general check of the condition of the oils an lubricants, they changed everything including the brake fluid last time, so don't really want another £2K bill, but they will be fixing the air-conditioning this time so who knows.

Oil is cheap. Engines aren't

All service schedules have a time element as well as milage - amazing how many ingnore the "whichever comes first" part of the schedule. Although manufacturers have consistently tried to extend the time, many have caught a cold as something unexpected happens and bites back on warranty claims. They also consider the "lifetime" of a car which is most often taken to be 10 years or 100k miles. If something will probably last that long it will be deemed a non service item and "sealed for life". But ignoring all that tosh and doing regular fluid/filter changes at least annually will see cars lasting 250k miles or more. Of course if you're only keeping the thing a couple of years there's a strong financial incentive not to bother and let the next owner deal with the consequences. Does nothing for your social conscience/responsibility, but definitely cheaper.
