Might be worth a try to do it yourself. It would take about an hour to take off the step, loosen the front and back leaving a 2mm gap, put the step back on, tighten front to back in the sequence provided. Also, if you take off the step, you can test it to see if the motor is deploying and retracting without the step. 2023 L460 Range Rover SE P400

They did that in the main dealer, and the motor still retracted with the step off, this confirmed their diagnosis of the new motor being faulty. I'd forgotten that detail. I've got about 50 motors due in the next 7-10 days so I'll have to swap it over to be sure. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

50 motors, from Alibaba? Are you reselling deployable steps? Let us know the outcome with yours. How long did your Chinese aftermarket last before it stopped working? I’m curious to get an expected longevity gauge on my new Chinese deployable steps. I live in Florida and this vehicle will never see roads with salt, but it will see wet roads a lot. 2023 L460 Range Rover SE P400

Not from Ali, from one of our suppliers in China. It's a product I have on my site, I sell the motors and hinges (among other things) - not the full steps. I've stocked them for a while, and I've never had one back or any reports of issues with them. But it may be that I have one with a faulty hall sensor - it can happen. I'd expect them to last as long as an OEM one generally, they're not a complex motor really. But like anything, they will suffer in British weather. Not an issue for you guys in FL, of course. I actually test drive another L460 example and it had the OEM deployable steps and one side was broken. So I would say both the Chinese and Land Rover motors (which are probably also made in China) are susceptible to failure. 2023 L460 Range Rover SE P400

For info for others. I had one of my own chaps fit one of our own new motors, and it worked, plug and play, no calibration of any kind.

In hindsight, the money spent at the dealer was wasted. The indy should have diagnosed an iffy new motor instead of burbling about "recalibration", which it seems is likely not to be a thing. Now I know the motors have hall sensors in them, they will likely just reset themselves. The new one working plug and play backs that up. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black
