I noticed these were appearing on EBAY more frequently so I thought I'd take a punt to see if I could use them to fix my rattling heat shields.

The steel star washers looked untreated so I painted them up in silver before fitting and then sprayed with waxoyl in situ to stave off any further corrosion although them being heat shields who knows how long that'll stay put, if it lasts 5 years I'll be happy.

About 53 mm across each disc and about 0.5mm thick. They appear to be made of quite stiff ally alloy and look up to the job..

Anyway, fixed for now, time will tell.

Hi Andy my nuts are all rusty ( so to speak) and I had to chisel em off. Do you happen to know what size thread I need to get new nuts to fit the heat shield?

Hi,

There not so much a thread as in a bolt but more like a self tapper protruding from the body.
I used the star washers from the kit topped with an M3 plastic nut, so far it seems ok.

The proper fixing is a stamped washer / nut combo similar to the link below, but I've not gone with this as I'm sure they'll just rot away as the originals.
