What would you do

An old l322 td6 needs a few things fixed and mot'd. It needs 2 back lights and 2 back tyres i know of plus holes in both back arches.

Now I was going to put tyres and back lights on for the hell of it then take it knowing it still won't pass but maybe soften the blow for whatever else needs done. Or just put it through and get the full horrors.... what would you do.

Haven't looked yet

All I'm asking is should I put in through and get a full Censored report or get at least tyres and back lights or probably thinking about it now. Don't bother doing that as i could be money wasted anyway.

Just take it in and see what long the list is. It may surprise you, then again……….. what have you got to lose. Just the price of a test 2016 4.4 diesel

If there is a chance it is scrap then it seems a waste to put new tyres and lights on. I'd have it checked over to identify what is required, and if the best value way to achieve that is an MOT test then do that. Once you have a defects and price list you can decide, bearing in mind that once things are opened up it may be worse/more expensive.

One thing to consider is that dangerous MOT failures cannot be driven away again so if there is a prospect of selling as scrap one is slightly at the mercy of the test station and its scrapper contacts if one does not want to arrange and pay for a transporter, so if that is a risk then consider getting a pre-test inspection instead. Only Range Rovers since 1988

You obviously didn't read the first post as you missed what else I said.

I might put it through I'll see, but honestly these things are really just over complicated money pits. If I did ever get another 4x4 it will be Jap.

Take it an Indy, get them to check it, my suspicion/expectation would be that the rear arches are your most likely point of concern. Keep in mind, it’s a 20+ year old car, let alone a Range Rover, so you might be throwing good money after bad. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey
