Advanced warning to anyone heading into North Wales this weekend, prepare for long delays around the Conwy tunnel area , it is currently closed in both directions following a major vehicle fire earlier today and reports suggest at least one direction could be closed for some considerable time.

Conwy is virtually gridlocked tonight and the only possible diversion via A470 to Betws y Coed is 35 miles long.

UPDATE, Friday AM,

A contra flow system has now been put in place.
The West bound tunnel remains closed , all traffic is now using the East bound tunnel, single lane running, so expect lengthy delays.

Just seen this post. Any update or idea when things will be back to normal here heading down at the beginning of August so hoping it’s okay by then. 2016 4.4 diesel

Daytime all back to normal running, but overnight closures this week to do further repairs, should be completed by end of June.
