I am getting ready to order my first ever LR, the L460. I want the autobiography trim and my dealer here in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia offered me the choices of getting in 6 cylinder p360 or v8 p530.

My question if p360 is adequate for such big car. My current bmw x7 has cylinder and it good enough for me. I drive it mainly on pavment. I have a toyota off roader.

I have driven neither .

I have the D300. In France it’s effortless at 100mph. Great turn of speed when overtaking say60mph mid range.
Takes off from a junction extremely swiftly ( JLR’S 0-60 and top speeds are a good guide)

Diesel is allegedly more sluggish than petrol, but I would never of guessed.

So it’s all about the money . I would be uncomfortable paying for a P530. If you have the money and you don’t care that much , always go for the biggest and best, on the other hand I have absolutely no doubt the p360 will be just fine & will shrug off the weight.
Others with experience may make more useful comments!

I should add I’m SWB Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Thanks Bill. I am correct in assuming the D300 has 300 horse power? My Google state the p360 has 355 horde power which i think very adequate for me.

Yes , just 300 hp but really lots of grunt, IMHO it’s far better than my previous 4.4L engine 2016.

I would be very happy with 355 HP, others on the forum just want 500 plus hp and petrol.

The 530hp will be awesome, I guess might become worthwhile if you are going on long journeys and at what speeds…maybe u need more hp if towing… maybe others who know more about the petrol engine will comment.
I would find little opportunity to let a petrol 500hp engine work hard in this country. Far too many speed restrictions .

When all is said and done whatever you choose I’m sure you will be absolutely delighted either way , the L460, is a brilliant car. Just order the full size spare wheel !

PS do you have a diesel option. The D350. Ie a bit stronger than mine & might work for you.,A millisecond slower taking off at the traffic lights ….. Just saves a fortune on petrol if that’s a consideration. Is diesel even an option in KSA?

Go for the large engine - petrol prices won't be the issue in KSA!

Diesel is not available in Saudi. Liter of petrol around 2.5sr=0.5£. However, the price difference about 25k£. Which money o could spend on something else. Maybe my first Patek for my 50th birthday.
