11 L322 aircon intermittent issues

It’s been playing up like this for a while now. Sometimes it’s better so you learn to live with it 😅

Sometimes it will work perfectly for up to an 1hr, other times it will struggle to work at all.

Had a long trip over the weekend, it seemed to kick in when you clicked max AC then after a while you would put it back to normal and start to get warm again, then max ac would kick it in again.
That wouldn’t always do the trick though. Still impossible to get it cold sometimes.

The weird thing is the aircon seats seem to work well regardless. This is what confusing me slightly, surely that runs from the same air.

I did a search and saw someone mentioned about a valve at the back of compressor that gets sticky so definitely a possibility.

I have had a scanner and checked the in car temp sensor and it always looked to be reading okay.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue with a positive outcome.

Will planned to get it gassed and checked also in the near future. 2011 FFRR Vogue SE Stornoway Grey

It will be the valve being worn mate. The seats are a totally separate system. They use a peltier cell I think it’s called.

That is what I saw before on here, will have to look at that then. Do you know a part number for that part or does it come with a new compressor.

Many thanks 2011 FFRR Vogue SE Stornoway Grey

I think you can get the specific part, don’t have the number sorry, but as it comes out towards the engine block or similar, you have to remove the compressor anyway, so most folk just swap the whole unit.

LR061463 And LR061464 seem to get talked about, and looking back now, there is mention of someone doing the job with compressor in situ but there can’t be much room.

Looks like it’s the part number ending in 63 for the L322.

The full JLR TSB is here, with a walkthrough

Thanks for all the help!

Great info, i will be ordering a new compressor i think. Not as much money as i thought they would be so makes sense to change it out at this age.
