I'd definitely take the self amalgamating tape, as suggested by Baltic Blue. Thumbs Up

That is always in my car, gives a great repair if a coolant hose fails. Has got me out of a hole more than once (BMW M62 V8 engine coolant hoses love to go pop) Smile There's a kit you can buy, which basically has two rolls of tape, one to reinforce the repair and then the amalgamating tape goes on top of that -> Highly recommended!

Also pack some spare fuses, bulbs, first aid kit, as well as basic tools (common sized sockets & spanners, screwdrivers), as well as an LED lantern for night (think changing a wheel in the dark)!

Don't forget an oversized socket in case your wheel nuts have swollen (23mm required instead of 22mm ), a common cause of frustration when trying to change a wheel!

I was scratching my head for a moment on what an FSR was (despite having changed one!) It's the Final Stage Resistor, or blower motor resistor (AKA Hedgehog resistor) - often a culprit of a battery that drains overnight.

Decent sized tie wraps can get you out of all sorts of issues, as well as the obligatory roll of Gaffa tape!

A candle's heat in the cabin will save your life if it's freezing cold, and chocolate in the glove box and drinking water are always welcome supplies if you get stranded for any length of time.

Most of all though, don't forget the baby wipes - invaluable for all manner of uses! Oh, and European breakdown insurance. Smile

Have a safe trip,

A spare crank?

Seriously, all you should need, a decent jack, spare wheel and some tyre inflation goop.

Breakdown cover for anything more serious than that.

Just been all over Europe in my L322 without a problem. Breakdown cover for peace of mind, a decent jack would have been useful.. and internet access so you can check this forum?

Make sure your wheel nuts haven't swollen before you go and swap them out if they have! (first hand experience tells me it is a pain if your wheel brace doesn't fit!)

When I do European road trips I take a compact tool set, a jump pack with inbuilt tyre inflator. A roadside puncture repair kit, a torch, my IID tool and some gloves and that's it... No spare parts as the old sods law avid comes to play, whatever you have you won't need! So don't take any...
Most importantly, I over service my personal cars and keep up with preventative maintenance! So, I can drive it distance without worry Thumbs Up
