Engine Cover Fixing Points

I’ve just noticed the engine cover on my l405 4.4 sdv8 does not line up with the plastic fixing points toward the front of the engine bay and is only attached to the 2 rear points.

The plastic cover definitely looks like the correct type. I’ve tried to find images online of other sdv8s and it looks like 2 front posts on mine are in the wrong location. Can someone confirm from the picture?

Yes, it looks like they are in the wrong place. The metal plate under the plenum and EGR pipe (9J44A here) has 4 weird studs (HT1) holding it down, then two studs (6A957A) go on the front two studs. It looks like yours are on the rear two.
The reason I know this is because I replaced mine recently and had to work out where the studs went!

Thanks for your reply, I only purchased the vehicle 2 weeks ago so I’m finding my way around. I have it booked into a LR specialist in Dublin in a few weeks so I’ll mention this to them.

Do you know what work the previous owner might have been doing that these parts got removed (and then put back incorrectly)?

The thermostat sits below this plate, so it was most likely replaced at some point — but it could really be anything L405 4.4 Vogue

The intake plenum comes off as an early step for many things, so it could be anything engine related, including routine stuff, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
