G 403 BKV

Just watching BBC breakfast, an article came on about charging 4x4 more for parking.
Included in the film was a shot of my old Classic which I owned for nearly 9 years, but sold in December 1999,, G403 BKV a 2.5 VM Vogue. It’s not showing on the MOT database so guess it must have been old film. I did over 120,000 miles in it so wonder , where is it now ?

Yes Stan, boarding the Brittany ferry in Portsmouth with a friend, 2 bikes in the back, off to cycle the length of the Loire for a week.

Definitely not me in the TV screenshot, looks like rear end has been resprayed, no silver coachline and no TurboD transfer on lower boot lid.

Tee hee - you did what I used to do ~ fitting the Efi spoiler to the VM’s - I fitted one to my 2.4 in 1987 and the 2.5 VM that followed it - both bought new.

LR took a very dim view about that - told me the Diesels needed extra cooling, and it would invalidate their 12 month warranty - despite the fact they fitted a spoiler to their own 2.4 VM for the 1986 land speed record for a Diesel off road vehicle. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

We were the first of many Rolling with laughter
How many people said diesels were for tractors, not luxury cars, there was even talk of stopping making them when they brought out the Discovery.,

Agreed Very Happy ironically the VM Diesels far outperformed the 300 TDI that replaced it. I never had any issues with the 2.5VM, although the 2.4 had to have a new engine - they suffered with their alloy heads x4 of the things - each cylinder had a separate head. She was just out of warranty and LR gave a goodwill gesture - they provided the engine and I paid for the fitting. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Personally, I always thought the 2.5VM was nicer to drive than the 2.5 BMW P38 I replaced it with because it really didn’t match the automatic box on off road tracks I regularly used visiting hilltop radio sites., Luckily early retirement came along soon after I bought it, so it was mostly used for long haul continental holidays where it was fine.
