The only thing I can suggest is that both battery cables are 100% tight on the battery.

If it was an early L322 I would think the starter switch was faulty, the later cars have a different setup but it still maybe the switch.... |

Gave it another go with the jump lead connected to main post on starter and it fired, the connection must not have been good enough the first time!
