Definately worth getting it done and I'd use a specialist. It's not a hugely complicated job, but someone who knows what they're talking about will be better. It is also probably worth getting the gearbox oil & filter changed at that mileage too.

I paid £780 for the cam belt change using genuine parts at a LR independent specialist.

Thanks I hadn’t thought of the oil pump. I haven’t had a Range Rover for a few years now, my last one was a TDV8. Thought I would treat myself to another but I do worry about how many I’ve seen suffer engine failures so want to do all I can to avoid disaster. |

It’s the fuel pump belt that is the reason why many General garages don’t want to do the job/do it properly. It needs someone who knows how to do it. I think the official line on it is a body off job to access it, which seems crazy if that is the case for a service item. |

The body doesn’t have to come off on the D4 to do it, but it is fiddly. The body doesn’t actually come off a 405 as it’s monocoque with front and rear subframes 👍🏻 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Definitely not a body off job, but many garages are scared of taking them on
