Refurbish 3.6 tdv8 torque converter

I’m suffering the dreaded torque converter problem on my 09 FF 3.6tdv8 @180k

Can’t quite justify brand new torque converter from Bristol transmissions but am feeling rather weary of the refurb options on eBay ,my old go too- Ashcroft transmissions etc say “too new for us” so I’m stuck

Please fire away your recommendations, many thanks ed.c

I've never used them but lots on here have mentioned Sussex Autos for reconditioned Torque Converters.

Thank you batfink I apologise I thought previously replied but I guess didn’t click submit 🤦🏻‍♂️ I went with reconditioning the torque converter and x2 oil services and it vastly improved things for normal road use however whenever went too tow anything it would throw a hissy fit and go into limp mode - cue the 3k full reconditioning of box and TC again as they refused too re-use - it now seems problem is solved - onto the next - loss of coolant Censored

May be I ask who you used for the full Monty and what was the process and total costs (if that’s not being too nosy!)

I fear I am due a rebuild…… 2007 Range Rover Vogue 3.6 TDV8

Hi rudy Not at all , planet gears in Peterborough although I would be skeptical too go back - damaged both sidesteps with 2 post lift - then done everything too deny it - eventually replaced and refitted but this took two trips as the first set the got was damaged in transit and they didn’t bother checking before asking us to bring the car , so 2.5hr round trip wasted , then three hours the second time too fit new ones - (6bolts) 🙄 and they took 9 days longer than quoted too do the work

Thanks for the info - might have to give them a wide berth then! Has anybody used Bristol Trans? I’m thinking they seem to be the best and are closer to me too…..just wondering if anybody has first hand experience to share (rather than me trawling through dodgy google reviews!) 2007 Range Rover Vogue 3.6 TDV8
