Sleeper Battery Locked me out!

Today I left work and the car (keyless) wouldn’t open. The buttons on the remote were also ineffective.

I gave the key a shake, hoping to wake it up, but it wouldn’t work.

For context, I put the sleeper battery in a few months ago and when it’s not in use, the key is either in a cupboard or on my desk at work - both locations should make it ‘sleep’.

Fortunately, the electric gate on my office car park takes the same battery so I was able to swop them over and get into the car.

Who knew the sleeper batteries would only last a few months? At £45 each, I won’t be replacing them!

Have heard the keys in general eat batteries, sleeping ones are just pricier.

PowerfulUK offer a kit that uses regular 2032 but enables those to sleep, it’s £50 as a one off just replace regular batteries every 6m/1yr

The (normal) batteries in my keys last for years.
