United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Causeway Grey
Current Impressions L405

I'm currently being drawn towards a 2021 3 Ltr D300 RR Special Edition for sale at £40,000 screen price ( not sport ) that will probably be a bit negotiable.

My current Fattie is 2011 4.4 L322 which is now getting a bit shaky after 94,000 miles and I fancy a change, that is not to say I haven't loved the car especially the power it supplies but I feel it's a little dated now ( and under pressure from my missus ! ) The engine is superb and the gearbox is fine but the suspension needs a serious coat of looking at.

I know not much about the D300 engine but I read it produces similar figures in terms of power and speed to my l322 but am a bit concerned about reliability issues occasionally mentioned on this forum.

Would appreciate any comments from anyone with particular knowledge or experience of this model and general comments would also be welcome.
Thanks. RR owner

United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Baltic Blue

I bought a 4.4 SDV8 2016 L405 end of last year and as a drive, it is a great thing, more toys, better handling and economy.

I drove my L322 (132,000 miles) the other day and it feels a bit more spritely and its simplicity and practicality is still attractive (no annoying bongs to Listen to).

however I drove a 2024 sport for a week and the engine (D300) was extremely quiet, smooth and very responsive. the gearbox was very smooth, almost un-noticable. I think the issues with the ingenium engine was mainly the 2.0 Litre version in other cars. The 3 litre seems to be a winner.

I went from a 2012 4.4 TDV8 L322 to a MY21.5 D350 L405 6 months ago.

I get a little frustrated at the automatic everything and that LR software is still buggy, but I'm learning to live with what I can't change. This engine doesn't quite have the bottom end torque of my EGR-mapped-out L322 which was lovely especially on/off/on light throttle, but I didn't want another 4.4 and I was happy enough with the reports and technical aspects of the 3L Ingenium. This engine has some slow speed, light throttle fluffyness which wasn't cured by cleaning the MAP sensor and the GAP tool shows no later PCM versions, so I'll just have to accept the condition. I gets moving in traffic on lightish throttle better than the L322, seeming more sprightly and upshifting sooner. The revised gearbox is nicer than the L322's and it is still happy to keep the revs quite low on light throttle.
The electric rear seats only partly fold forwards so the cargo area floor can't be extended.
It drives well, albeit a little floaty on the comfort setting but too harsh for me on dynamic. I arranged for D5 19" rims with GG AT3 255/60R19 to be fitted before I collected the vehicle as 21" aren't of any use to me as my only farm vehicle and the roads and tracks on which I travel. I had the same tyres on the L322 on D4 19" rims so I already knew that the tyres suited my usage. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims
