Before you start replacing things it's worth checking that the temp really is low and it's not just a sensor error?

I would check the coolant temperature sensor electrical connections for possible corrosion.

Anyone had this done at an Indy/specialist. What price roughly would I be looking at. Just so I don’t get ripped off with quotes.

You say you have no pertinent fault codes so if i were you, I would replace the expansion tank (about £50) for a nice new clean one. If I can replace it in under an hour, anyone can.

Then you will clearly see the level. Bleed it as per the manual in the wiki.

I still think it is the 'stat being sticky/stuck but we shall see. 2012 Vogue TDV8 in Aintree green over sand

I’ve probably done about 8-900 miles since I got the car now and I can see in the expansion tank when I remove the lid, the coolant level hasn’t changed at all.
