I did a thread on here a while back about the DAB aerials ... long story short, I would say that their placement in the upper rear tailgate spoiler area exposes them to moisture where they corrode within and corrode where they ground to the chassis, and basically just fail.

Thanks for the reply. I suppose the confusion for me is that the signal is fine, perfect even, when the lights are off. I have no issues and great reception, but the minute those lights are switched on it instantly cuts out. So yeah, I would have thought if it was corrosion it would affect the dab signal no matter what the lights are doing? I don't know, electrics aren't my bag but it would be great to sort this because the FM signal here isn't great.

Could well be a ground issue as its the current return for the circuit. I had an issue a while ago where the Adaptive cruise control would cut out randomly, but only when the lights were on, turned out to be the usual earth stud under the drivers side wheelarch, fixed that and ACC problem solved.

Thanks, I'll do that. Is there anywhere else I should check or is everything relating to the entertainment system located up there? How would I identify the earth strap or would it be pretty obvious? |

The aerial earth's are under the spoiler, it's obvious once you remove it as they are bolted under the hinge nuts, just have a helper as you need to lift the spoiler and unplug a few connectors to the mat aerial, high level brake light and rear washer pipe.
