Checking the rear differential

I’ve a droning noise from the rear of my 2016 4.4 113k, couldn’t find any obvious play in either of the rear wheels but was fairly sure it was the passenger side wheel bearing as I could feel a grumbling when sat in the rear, had it changed but the noise remains, Garage have said it could be the drivers side bearing, I have double flushed the open rear diff, the magnet on the drain plug had some grime on the first oil change and was clean on the second, (I used oil from the main dealers) Before I pay out for the other bearing is there anyway to check the rear diff for signs of wear?? 1972 Series 3 full of character
