Issue after replacing alternator

Hello All,

My old girl broke down on me and it turned out to be a dead alternator....I've just replaced it and all is good on the charging system front now....but I have another issue stopping me from using her!

One thing that happened when I got my car back from the RAC was that when I put a new battery ( hoping it was the alternator! ) into the car and started her up, the suspension rose at the back and dropped at the front to the bump stops. in the car it was saying that it was in extended height but it wouldn't let me drop it.......I thought it may have been something to do with the alternator fault that still existed at that point.

Now the alternator has been replaced and the charging fault has gone, the car still wouldn't let me drop the rear from extended height and keeps giving me a 'clear obstruction' warning.

I plugged in my GAP tool to see if I could get it back to normal height but nothing seems to work.....so I just deflated all the bags to drop her down.

My question is, is there a proper process to re-calibrate the height settings after a bag deflation?

Cheers

Sounds like a faulty height sensor. Maybe it was disturbed while changing the alternator or if the car was on a lift and the suspension fully extrended it may have gone beyond it's normal working range ( for it's age) Check the linkages and also check the height values in the GAP IID tool. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
